Winter vacations are creeping up fast, and if you have an American Express credit card you may find that booking holiday accommodation has just gotten easier.
A deal struck between the New York credit card company and Airbnb gives American Express card members access to fast and seamless bookings on the popular travel accommodations platform.
The Airbnb website will feature a button prompting Amex cardholders to sign up using the same login information that they use to check their account online. American Express auto-fills the necessary fields in the Airbnb settings using secure technology, after which the setup of their Airbnb account, complete with an American Express Card Member profile badge, is complete.
Amex card information can either be filed on Airbnb, or automatically filled in by American Express when you use the secure auto-fill Amex Express Checkout option. This process streamlines the checkout process by automating the tedious task of entering credit card information, while still letting you avoid filing sensitive credit card information on Airbnb.
If you have enrolled in the Membership Rewards® program, the rewards program used by many American Express payment cards, you can use the points you've collected to pay for all or part of your bookings directly at the Airbnb checkout.
Airbnb.com users can access over 1.5 million homes around the world, primarily bed and breakfasts and holiday homes rented out privately. Formerly airbedandbreakfast.com, the company is said to have acquired its unusual domain by its founders initial offering of air mattresses and home made breakfasts at a price in their San Francisco home.
A recent report by Reuters cited investors whom the news service claims expect to see the year wind up with a record of 80 million Airbnb bookings in 2015.
