Is visiting Cuba one of the things on your bucket list? A new world of possibilities has opened up now that travel restrictions between the United States and Cuba have been eased. Airlines and cruise brands have been quick to begin offering getaways to this Caribbean destination. It is predicted that Cuba may become one of the hottest travel destinations for Americans in the future.
However, American tourists are still moving slowly when it comes to booking trips to Cuba. Popular airlines are doing their part to encourage travel to Cuba by offering incredible deals and handling the paperwork necessary for making the journey. The truth is that 2017 is a great year to make history by vacationing in Cuba.
Why Travelers Are Interested In Cuba
August 31 of 2016 was a big day because it marked the first time in 50 years a routine commercial flight was offered between Cuba and the United States. There are a lot of reasons why Cuba is attractive to tourists. Foremost, it offers an island atmosphere with warm waves and glowing beaches. It also offers interesting architecture and landmarks.
Of course, what makes Cuba particularly interesting for some tourists is that it has been a veiled paradise for so long. It is as though the doors to a hidden and isolated world have suddenly been flung open!
Many travelers are also discovering Cuba because of the very low airfare rates that are available to the island nation. In fact, getting to Cuba is a lot less expensive than visiting other Caribbean destinations right now.
Getting Deals On Airfare To Cuba
Many airlines in the United States jumped at the chance to start offering flights to Cuba once it was announced that travel restrictions would be lifted in 2015. American Airlines and JetBlue are the two airlines that have made headway when it comes to offering regular flights at rock-bottom prices.
JetBlue offers flights to Havana from New York, Orlando and Fort Lauderdale. You can actually snag round-trip tickets for as little as $218 when leaving from New York during the spring travel season. Tickets from New York to Havana will run you about $450 when you're traveling with American Airlines.
Travelers departing from Florida can get really great deals. JetBlue offers one-way flights from Florida to Havana for less than $100. American Airlines offers round-trip tickets from Miami to Cuba for just $198. The best part is that you can get from Florida to Cuba in just over an hour by air. There really isn't a better option if you're looking for a quick getaway to a place that will make you feel like you're making history.
Why Prices Are Low
While restrictions have been eased quite a bit, traveling to Cuba as a tourist still isn't as easy as traveling to other Caribbean destinations. Tourists from the United States technically need tourist visas. The good news is that American Airlines and JetBlue will actually help passengers get their hands on Cuban tourist visas for just $50 per person.
The other requirement is that all visitors entering Cuba must have health insurance coverage that is valid in the area. Both airlines make it easy to obtain the insurance you need by automatically tacking on a small fee to every ticket to Cuba.
