Employee card at no extra cost. You pay a $0 annual fee for employee cards, so if you have employees and want to give them employee cards to use for business transactions, you can save money with this benefit. Employee cards make it easy to track employee business-related spending because each transaction posts to just one main business card account.
Solid business tools. One of the main benefits of using a payment card account for your business is that all your payment information is recorded and easily accessible. Here are additional benefits that this card gives you:
- ReceiptMatch: This app lets you add receipts, tags and notes to your transactions either via a computer or mobile device. That means both you and your employees can easily capture receipts and add relevant tags or a note on the go.
- Account Manager: If you have a trusted business partner, employee or accountant, you can give them access to manage your account, including tasks like making payments, disputing charges and reviewing statements.
- Apps: Amex OPEN apps for your phone or tablet make it possible for you to check your balance, pay your bill and perform other basic tasks relating to account management.
- OPEN Forum®: This is a idea we would like to see more card issuers try out. This forum provides information relevant to business owners, including shared experience from other business owners.
OPEN Savings® benefit. As a business card from American Express OPEN, you get up to a 10% discount or up to 4 additional points for each eligible dollar spent at OPEN Savings merchants.
The Membership Rewards program. The points you earn with this card can be redeemed for practically anything, which means that regardless of whether you like redeeming your accumulated points to pay for travel, gift cards or to purchase office supplies, you will be able to so with this card.
You don't have a pre-set spending limit Since this is a charge card, you won't be able to carry a balance, but you also won't have to pay any interest. This card has no pre-set spending limit. Our Least Favorite Things About Business Green Rewards Card from American Express OPEN
$0 introductory annual fee for the first year, then $95. After the first year, you will have to pay an annual fee of $95 in order to remain a cardholder.
How Other Cards Compare With Business Green Rewards Card from American Express OPENThe Business Gold Rewards Card from American Express OPEN is another rewards card from American Express, and depending on how you spend, you may end up with a lot more rewards by using this charge card. Granted, it does have a $0 introductory annual fee for the first year, then $175 (Business Green Rewards Card from American Express OPEN comes cheaper at $0 introductory annual fee for the first year, then $95), but if your business spends a lot, the Membership Rewards you earn could more than make up for that. You get to choose 1 purchase category out of 5 categories, and you will get 3x points per $1 spent on purchases in that category. In addition to that, you get 2X points on the 4 remaining categories (3X and 2X apply to the first $100,000 of purchases in each of the 5 categories per year) and 1X point per $1 on other purchases charged to this card. The business tools, as well as the travel and purchase benefits, are pretty similar to those you get with Business Green Rewards Card from American Express OPEN. The welcome offer of 50,000 Membership Rewards® points after you spend $5,000 in purchases on the Card within the first 3 months of Card Membership is more impressive than the rather paltry bonus you get with Business Green Rewards Card from American Express OPEN. However, you do pay $50 for the first employee card after the $0 introductory annual fee the first year (additional employee cards have no fee). Business Green Rewards Card from American Express OPEN, by contrast, has a $0 annual fee for each additional employee card. So if rewards aren't a big deal for your business, or if the categories for high rewards don't match your spending, you can come out a lot cheaper and get most of the same business perks by using Business Green Rewards Card from American Express OPEN.
U.S. Bank Business Edge™ Select Rewards comes with a bonus offer of 10,000 bonus points earned by spending $500 on net purchases within 90 days of account opening. This credit card lets you earn 3 points for each $1 of net purchases (net purchases are purchases minus returns and credits) in 1 category you choose from a selection of 3: Automobile, Day-to-Day Expenses or Travel & Entertainment. There's no limit on the total points you can earn, and every other $1 of net purchases earns 1 point. Although the rewards program isn't, in our opinion, as comprehensive as comprehensive as the Membership Rewards program from Amex, you have the option of redeeming points for statement credits, travel, merchandise and U.S. Bank rewards cards and popular merchant gift cards. The highlights of this card are the fact that it has no annual fee and, because it is a credit card (Business Green Rewards Card from American Express OPEN is a charge card}}), it gives you a 0% intro APR on purchases for 9 billing cycles with a 12.49% - 18.49% variable APR afterwards. So if you prefer the flexibility of being able to carry a balance on your card account, U.S. Bank Business Edge™ Select Rewards is a good rewards alternative.
