Things We Like About Capital One® QuicksilverOne® Cash Rewards Credit Card
The 1.5% cash back! When you charge purchases to this card, you earn unlimited 1.5% cash back. You earn that cash back for every purchase, no matter when or where you use your card. That makes this a fantastic cash back card to use for all your everyday purchases. Just using this card for your purchases translates into 1.5% savings on all your spending.
You only need fair credit to get it. Most credit cards you can get with fair credit are just that, credit cards. No more, no less. No cash back (or very little) and few benefits. The cash back you earn with this card beats many cash back credit cards for excellent credit holders.
Making your payments on time helps you get a higher credit line. Like most cards for people with fair credit, this card doesn't give you a very high credit limit right from the start. But after making your first 5 monthly credit card payments on time, you can get access to a higher credit line. This is a good safeguard because it will help you avoid racking up credit card debt, while motivating you to make your payments by the due date each month.
Your rewards don't expire. Many cards stamp an expiry date on your cash back, but the cash back you earn with this card doesn't expire. That means you can collect all the cash back you wan to, without worrying about redeeming it until you choose to. When you do redeem, you can redeem your cash back for any amount at any time.
Extended warranty. When you pay for something with this card, you automatically enjoy a longer warranty. The original warranty offered by the manufacturer or U.S. store brand must be 12 months or shorter to qualify. The extended warranty doubles the original manufacturer warranty up to 12 months on most items. Even products with multiple warranty components are eligible. For example, you may have a manufacturers warranty and an additional warranty offered by the store that sold you the item. For these, each warranty time period will be extended by up to 12 months. Just make sure to properly register the warranty, or only the actual warranty time period that you received from the manufacturer will be doubled.
You get fraud coverage This card has a $0 fraud liability policy. That means that you won't have o pay for unauthorized transactions made with your card if it gets lost or stolen.
MASTERRENTAL® coverage is a auto rental insurance policy which covers vehicles you rent and pay for using this card against theft and collision damages.
MASTER ROADASSIST® provides a 24/7 roadside assistance service in 50 States and the District of Columbia. if your car breaks down, call 1-800-MC-ASSIST and they will organize assistance (jump-starts, towing, gas delivery, tire changes). You will have to pay for services, but you get fair prices which are pre-negotiated by MasterCard. Fees for roadside services are automatically billed to your MasterCard Card account, so you can get the help you need even if you left your wallet at home.
Price protection is another attractive benefit this card gives you. If you find a lower price on anything you purchase with your Capital One® QuicksilverOne® Cash Rewards Credit Card within 60 days of making the purchase, you can get reimbursed for the difference in price.
Travel accident insurance is yet another perk you get with this card. If you are killed or permanently disabled in an accident on a common carrier (airline, cruise, etc.), you or your survivors could receive compensation.
Our Least Favorite Things About Capital One® QuicksilverOne® Cash Rewards Credit Card
You pay an annual fee. I guess there really isn't any free lunch. You will have to pay a $39 annual fee to use this card. But considering the benefits you get and the high cash back you earn, your savings could easily pay for this annual fee plus save you additional money. On the whole, this fee is pretty low for a "fair credit" credit card.
It has a high interest rate. This is a fantastic cash back card and you would do well to use it for all your purchases. This card has a 24.99% variable APR, so it is not a good card to use if you tend to carry credit card debt.
How Other Cards Compare With Capital One® QuicksilverOne® Cash Rewards Credit Card
Credit One Bank® Cash Back Credit Card is another card you can get if you have fair credit, and it also gives you some cash back. You earn 1% cash back on gas and on grocery purchases (terms apply). You get automatic reviews for credit line opportunities, and enjoy some benefits like zero fraud liability and free online credit score tracking. You can also get pre-qualified for this card without Credit One performing a credit check (which would harm your credit). But the fact that it has a $0-$99 annual fee and may charge you interest right from the posting date (which makes it very difficult to avoid the 15.90% - 24.40% variable APR) if you don't qualify for a grace period, means this is only a good card to use if you qualify for a low annual fee and a grace period. With Capital One® QuicksilverOne® Cash Rewards Credit Card, your due date is at least 25 days after the close of each billing cycle. This Credit One Bank® Cash Back Credit Card is pretty typical of what's available to people with fair credit, although the cash back you earn is a plus. On the whole, Capital One® QuicksilverOne® Cash Rewards Credit Card is a much better choice as it has higher cash back, useful benefits and better financial terms and conditions.
Capital One® QuicksilverOne® Cash Rewards Credit Card is our favorite cash back credit card for people with average credit who want to earn high cash back on all purchases.
Capital One® QuicksilverOne® Cash Rewards Credit Card isn't all peaches and cream. You have to pay an annual fee to use it, and the APR is high. However, if you don't carry balances this card could be very rewarding. The 1.5% cash back you earn on all purchases is higher than what most cards for excellent credit give you. As well as getting tools that can help you track and improve your credit, this card gives you many solid benefits that you would normally only find on credit cards for people with good or excellent credit.
