Certain credit card issuers and payment processing networks offer a little-known perk on their credit cards - price protection (also known as price matching)! This allows cardholders to compare prices on their purchases after buying - and if they find a lower price within the specified deadline, they can be refunded the price difference. Each issuer or payment network has its own terms and conditions. I will run through each of them to point out their best benefits, and I'll also show you some really good credit cards that include this stand-out feature.
MasterCard (MA) offers this benefit on all their cards. Other banks include this benefit on select credit cards. Price protection means that if you find a better price on products purchased with a card that offers this benefit, you can get the difference refunded. This is a very useful benefit all year round, but it is especially practical just before sales! However, make sure to read the terms and conditions on your credit card to see if sales purchases are excluded or not. Let's take a look at each issuer or payment processing network individually.
MasterCard offers all its users price protection in the event of finding a lower regular price on a new item and claiming it within 60 days of purchase. You will be reimbursed the price difference up to the issuer's limit. MasterCard's benefits vary by issuer and type of credit card - so remember to ask your issuer to tell you the specific terms and conditions of your MasterCard to see what the price protection program covers and what exclusions and limitations apply.
