Southwest Rapid Rewards® Plus Credit Card is an airline credit card created for Southwest Airlines frequent flyers. Besides letting you earn and redeem Rapid Rewards® points the fuss-free way, there are Southwest benefits such as first and second free checked bag to look forward to as well. For those who don't already know, this credit card offered by Southwest Airlines - the big boy on the budget travel block - gives you a generous sign-up bonus offer of 40,000 points if you are a new Cardmember.

Earn 40,000 points after you spend $1,000 on purchases in the first 3 months your account is open. Keep in mind it may take up to 8 weeks for your bonus points to post to your Rapid Rewards® account after you have met the spend requirement. This bonus offer is only available for new Cardmembers.
Earn 2 points per $1 spent on purchases made directly with Southwest Airlines® (including flights, inflight, Southwest® gift cards, and Southwest Vacations® package purchases) and Rapid Rewards® Hotel and Car Rental Partner purchases, and 1 point per $1 spent on all other purchases. You can earn unlimited points - there's no cap! You earn points on every eligible dollar spent, minus returns or refunds.
Flexible points redemption. You can redeem your points for flights (including international flights on more than 50 global carriers), car rentals, hotel stays, gift cards, access to events and more.
No blackout dates or seat restrictions when you redeem Southwest flights with points. No blackout dates and unlimited reward seats apply to Southwest flights booked with points.
Bags fly free®. Enjoy free first and second checked bags when you fly Southwest. Weight and size limits will apply.
No change fees. While this is an awesome perk, bear in mind fare differences may apply.

Your points do not expire as long as your card account is open and in good standing, or if you have flight-earning or Southwest Airlines partner-earning activity at least once every 24 months. Plus, all points earned during a billing cycle will be transferred automatically to your Rapid Rewards® account. This sure saves you time and hassle.
Our Least Favorite Things About Southwest Rapid Rewards® Plus Credit Card
It has a foreign transaction fee. While this is an airline credit card made for travel, it has a 3% foreign transaction fee that you will have to pay when you use the card to make purchases in currencies other than the U.S. dollar.
This card has a $69 annual fee. The card annual membership fee will be applied to your first billing statement.

Southwest Rapid Rewards® Plus Credit Card is a great airline credit card for people who fly with Southwest Airlines regularly. This credit card lets you earn rewards on all your spending, more so if you are spending on Southwest purchases. The generous bonus offer for new Cardmembers is a definite plus point, too.
We especially like the practical, money-saving Southwest benefits that come with the card, one cannot help but appreciate the flexibility of the Southwest Rapid Rewards® program. Also, you get to earn direct Rapid Rewards® points with this card without having to fumble with the hassles associated with transferring or converting points.
Your points do not have an expiry date so long as your account is open, and you have the freedom to redeem your points with flexibility for things like flights and hotel stays worldwide to gift cards and access to exclusive events. You can even redeem for international flights on global carriers to get to places in Asia and Europe.
While there is a $69 annual fee attached to this credit card, this fee will be worth paying if you are a frequent flyer on Southwest Airlines.
